Matt Johnson has been a professional tattoo artist for over 11 years. Matt is a formally trained tattooist having done formal apprenticeship under Brian Rudd at Pair-a-Dice Tattoo Studios. After his formal training he continued as a tattoo artist at Pair-a-Dice Tattoo Studio in Wahiawa Hawaii. Matt has also worked at Rockstarz Tattoos in Waikiki, Hawaii, Little City Studios in Moscow Idaho, and of course Falling Moon Tattoo Studio in Moscow Idaho. In addition to regular shop work, Matt has tattooed at several tattoo conventions in places like Seattle WA, Santa Rosa CA, and Philadelphia PA. He won 1st and 2nd place for “Most Unusual Tattoo” last year at the Tattoos and Blues convention in Santa Rosa.

Matt is a prolific artist. His work includes plant anatomy diagrams for a college level textbook, plant illustrations for the nursery catalog of the University of Idaho, T-shirt designs for the Moscow Fire Department, Woodlot Cafe, John’s Alley, Rosauer’s Grocery Store and others. Matt has also done several murals. You can see 3 of these in Moscow at the Moose Lodge (Joe Vandal), Pie Hole Pizza (abstract Pabst Blue Ribbon landscape) and John’s Alley (Mural of the old bar) And of course, if you are a big UI Vandal Fan, that is his artwork on your season ticket (both this year and last year.)
